AHERI RECHT
A right you do not know is a right you cannot use. AHERI RECHT helps people understand their rights, find their way through institutions and reach protection and justice.

About AHERI RECHT
AHERI RECHT is our rights, advocacy and access to justice programme area. It helps people understand and use their rights, supports survivors to reach protection and justice, and turns what we learn in communities into better laws and policies.
SDG 5 Gender equality · SDG 10 Reduced inequalities · SDG 16 Peace, justice and strong institutionsWhy it matters
19% of Nigerian women have experienced physical violence since age 15 (Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey 2023 to 2024). Laws such as the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 and the Child Rights Act 2003 exist, but survivors, students and families often do not know their rights, cannot afford transport, medical reports or filing costs, and give up before they reach justice.
By December 2027, help 5,000 people in the FCT, Kaduna and Enugu understand and use their rights, give 120 survivors practical and legal support to reach justice, pilot safe reporting in 3 schools and use evidence to push for better protection and school mental health policy.
